Modernizing and increasing the capacity of ammonia plants

AMI Agrolinz Melamine International GmbH, which is based in the Austrian city of Linz, has been operating ammonia plants for decades. The older of the two plants was built by Uhde GmbH in the late 70s. These ammonia plants are used to produce ammonia from natural gas. This ammonia, in turn, is used as starting substance in the production of melamine and fertilizer.

In order to continue to guarantee the safe operation of the plants past 2030 and to step up ammonia production at the site, the plants will be modernized by Uhde Services.

The basic engineering for this revamp will involve the planning for process technology, apparatus and machinery, pipelines, electronics, measurement and control technology, as well as construction and the steel structure. Therefore, an initial study will be conducted in association with Uhde GmbH into increasing capacity, and the results of this will be incorporated into the basic engineering.
